BTW, even if your number comes up in the lottery, you still might not get a visa. Many of those who enter the lottery and get picked still do not qualify for the visa.
First of all, the following countries are ineligible for the lottery :Brazil, Canada, China (mainland-born), Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, India, Jamaica, Kosovo , Mexico, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Poland, South Korea, United Kingdom (except Northern Ireland) and its dependent territories, and Vietnam. Second of all, it would seem that being from Africa or Europe increases your chances of winning, as currently, 80 percent of Diversity Immigrant visas are recieved by them. So, the only way to really increase your chances of winning is changing your nationality.

No. Its just like any lottery, buying a ticket the first day doesn’t increase your odds.

No. Nothing happens until the closing date. Then they draw at random, just like any other lottery.
